In my experience this has probably been the most potent way of looking after myself. In my final year of University, I decided to give up sugar from my diet. I had observed that fizzy drinks were causing me to experience problems with sleeping.
Initially, I thought of dietary changes as a good way to cope going forward. However, I soon discovered that wrong eating habits were contributing to pretty much all the symptoms I was experiencing. As mentioned on the home page, there are both positive and negative symptoms of the illness and I found that eating processed and junk food contributes to both. When I started eating better, I stopped getting depressed and the feelings of apathy dissipated soon after. I also noticed that the more positive symptoms such as the paranoia I was experiencing decreased as well.
The below link is to a video that I did not have the motivation to watch 5 years ago, I had saved it on my watch later list on Youtube. I got around to watching it last year. What this lecturer speaks on should be common knowledge for anyone going through the illness.
